Akira, Sugarmountain and coming releases…

A busy January for les Cab.

Next releases – a studio EP in March (with a 12 minute single no less), then the Akira alt-soundtrack recordings, and maybe a full Cab LP later in the year based on some new tracking we’re doing in march. That’s freakin’ hardcore for us.

First the sold-out Akira live soundtrack at the Astor was lots of fun, with Toshi on live Taiko and us messing about with live and sequenced sounds (pics thanks to HearMyEyes)

And then Sugarmountain 2017 at Melbourne’s VCA with GL Graeme on sticks given Wes poncing about in London (pics thanks to Slava)

Cab has been invited by the cool cats at HearMyEyes to compose and perform a live alternative soundtrack inspired by manga/anime classics such as Akira on Thursday, Jan 12th at the Astor Theatre Melbourne. A print of Akira will be shown will be the original Japanese dialogue version with the music soundtrack turned off. Joining us live will be Taiko drumming master Toshi Sakamoto (you can check his moves on the video below).

Expect massed Japanese drums and pulsing electronica. This will be huge fun.
