A busy January for les Cab.
Next releases – a studio EP in March (with a 12 minute single no less), then the Akira alt-soundtrack recordings, and maybe a full Cab LP later in the year based on some new tracking we’re doing in march. That’s freakin’ hardcore for us.
First the sold-out Akira live soundtrack at the Astor was lots of fun, with Toshi on live Taiko and us messing about with live and sequenced sounds (pics thanks to HearMyEyes)
And then Sugarmountain 2017 at Melbourne’s VCA with GL Graeme on sticks given Wes poncing about in London (pics thanks to Slava)
Cab has been invited by the cool cats at HearMyEyes to compose and perform a live alternative soundtrack to manga anime classic, Akira on Thursday, Jan 12th at the Astor Theatre Melbourne. The movie shown will be the original Japanese dialogue version with the music soundtrack turned off. Joining us live will be Taiko drumming master Toshi Sakamoto (you can check his moves on the video below).
Expect massed Japanese drums and pulsing electronica. This will be huge fun.
Cab are taking some time off to record some new works so this is a useful bookend to a series of live shows to May 2016. Complete May 14th Newtown Social Club, Sydney live set now available to stream or download. Thanks heaps to FBi Radio’s Harvey O’Sullivan (recording, mixing) and Andrew Edgson (mastering).
Cab hit the road in May 2016 to launch new single Uniforms. You can buy Uniforms here.
Full tour deets:
These will be the final batch of shows for 2016 as we huddle to complete a new LP.
Here’s some Golden Plains Cabbery from March 12th.
Cab are back in harness, both live and in studio.
Next show is National Gallery Friday nights series as part of the Andy Warwhol Ai Weiwei exhibition, Friday night 19th Feb (tix here) then a sneaky Melbourne warm up show for GP in early March (subscribe for deets) and then Golden Plains on Sat March 12th (playing around midnight) followed by a new single/EP and an east coast tour in May.
And here’s a bit of Corner last year (thanks Light City Films).
Cab is proud to be supporting the excellent US rocktronica outfit Ratatat in early Dec.
